Procedure
- If you already created any User COMBIS or PROGRAMS, make sure you save your work to a USB drive (using MEDIA - SAVE).
- Download this file containing the V1 PCM04 piano samples
- Insert the Pen Drive containing the V2 XPanded OS into your PC.
- On the PC, open the folder EXUSB_PCM04.zip and the sub-folder EXUSB_PCM04 and copy the files EXPCM04.KEP and EXPCM04.PCG onto the root level of your USB pen drive.
- Ensure that the files EXPCM01.KEP, EXPCM02.KEP and EXPCM03.KEP (copied during the M3 V2 XPanded OS upgrade) are on the root level of the same USB pen drive. It's a good idea to delete the M3SYS folder if you did not already, so that you don't accidentally update your M3 at some other time.
- Plug the USB stick into your M3.
Option 1: for owners of the EXB-M256 sample ram expansion board
Assuming you have the EXB-M256 RAM option installed in your M3, then you can do the following to also auto load the EXPCM01.KEP, EXPCM02.KEP, EXPCM03.KEP and EXPCM04.KEP files …
- Press the MEDIA button.
- Select the tab called "EX-USB PCM".
- You will see listed all four PCM files EXPCM01.KEP, EXPCM02.KEP, EXPCM03.KEP and EXPCM04.KEP.
- Ensure that the small square icons to the left of each file name are checked (they will turn red).
- Select each file in turn so it is highlighted, and touch the Load icon.
- You may have to wait a minute or two while the files are transferred from USB to RAM.
- You have now successfully enabled the samples to Auto-load next time the keyboard is switched on.
If the EXPCM04 Piano samples from the V1 operating system are loaded, you will also need to load the original programs and combis that use these samples. From the Media->Load page, select the file called EXPCM04.PCG on your pen drive, and press Load.
Option 2: if you do not have the EXB-M256 sample ram expansion board
If you do not have the EXB-M256 RAM option installed in your M3, then you can do the following to manually load one of the EXPCM01.KEP, EXPCM02.KEP, EXPCM03.KEP and EXPCM04.KEP files.
- Press the MEDIA button.
- Select the tab called "EX-USB PCM".
- You will see listed all four PCM files EXPCM01.KEP, EXPCM02.KEP, EXPCM03.KEP and EXPCM04.KEP.
- As default, OS V2 XPanded autoloads the file EXPCM03.KEP.
- You must unselect the small square autoload check box to the left of this file, then touch the file name "EXPCM03 - Stereo Grand Piano" so it is highlighted.
- Then touch the "Unload" icon.
- Now select the file you want loaded instead and touch the "Load" icon.
- You can also set the autoload check box to the left of the file name if you wish.
If the EXPCM04 Piano samples from the V1 operating system are loaded, you will also need to load the original programs and combis that use these samples. From the Media->Load page, select the file called EXPCM04.PCG on your pen drive, and press Load.
